uno
A voice-enabled AI chatbot with Llama 3.3 & JavaScript
Uno is a chatbot that listens, speaks, and shines — built from scratch
Imagine an AI that doesn’t just type back: it hears you, talks to you, and even dances to your voice. That’s Uno, a chatbot I built to feel alive, powered by cutting-edge open-source LLM and a sprinkle of JavaScript magic. It’s not just smart — it’s personal, playful, and ready to chat on your desktop, as a web-app, right now.

* Currently, Uno is only available for desktop use and does not support mobile devices.

What Uno Does
Uno turns words into conversations. Speak to it, and it listens through your mic, transforming your voice into text. Then, it thinks fast with Meta AI's LLM Llama 3.3 and responds aloud — thanks to a snappy setup — like a friend on the other end. A glowing, pulsing ring, inspired by 2001: A Space Odyssey’s HAL 9000 glow and Tron’s neon blue, moves with your voice, making every chat a little show. Simple, seamless, and all in your browser.
* This project has no connection to Meta.

How It Works
I started with Llama 3.3, a powerhouse for text-based smarts, but it doesn’t do voice. So, I made it happen:
-
Listening: Your browser’s mic catches every word, turning speech into text in real time.
-
Thinking: Uno sends your words to Llama 3.3, getting a clever reply back in a flash.
-
Speaking: That reply becomes a voice, spoken aloud through your speakers.
-
Dancing: A slick visual ring pulses with the sound, adding flair to every exchange.
All this with just JavaScript: no bulky extras, no fuss. It’s tech wizardry made lean and mean.

"The coding? I teamed up with AI heavy-hitters: Grok 3 and Claude 3.7 Sonnet traded ideas like true agents, refining Uno into a voice-powered gem. It started as a simple text chatbot — drafted with ChatGPT and Deepseek R1 — but I pushed it further, blending human creativity with AI muscle. This isn’t just a project: it’s an insight from the future."

Why It’s Special
Most chatbots are stuck in text mode, Uno breaks free. I took a silent AI and gave it a voice, using only browser tools and a few hundred lines of code. It’s fast, fun, and feels human, all without needing a fancy app or server tricks. On desktop, it’s rock-solid; mobile’s next, and I’m already plotting the upgrade (imagine speaking other languages, but without his American accent LOL).

1. Start talking: To activate Uno, just click the blue, round button featuring a waveform icon and start speaking. The experience is designed to feel like a natural conversation — talk as you would with a friend or colleague.
2. Be specific: To get the best assistance from Uno, make your questions or requests as specific as possible. For example, rather than saying, "Tell me about movies," you could ask, "Can you explain the plot of The Matrix?"
3. Follow up naturally: Conversations don't have to end after a single question. You can ask follow-up questions without repeating yourself, and Uno will keep track of the context to assist you seamlessly.
4. Speak in English: Although Uno understands other languages, he currently speaks only in English — and naturally, without an accent.
5. Browser: For the best experience with this web app, I highly recommend using Chrome as your browser of choice.
6. Currently, Uno is only available for desktop use and does not support mobile devices.
7. Stay curious...
Enjoy chatting with Uno! 😊
